MULTI-SITE CHURCHES

Within the multi-site model of ministry, both the primary location (main campus) and the offsite locations will commonly have their own music worship and announcements pertaining to that congregation. Sometimes the sermon is broadcast via satellite from the main campus and sometimes churches use “on-site ministers” to deliver the sermon. Generally it is the same sermon presented to all attenders at all locations.

The first known church to become a multi-site congregation was Highland Park the Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1942. In 1990, there were only 10 multisite churches the United States.  By 2019, there were over 5,000 multisite churches. Multi-site churches have established campuses in many different kinds of places, even in prisons.

A leading book on Multi-Site Ministry has been published by Leadership Network, entitled The Multi-Site Church Revolution.
